Stuck in the Mud

We have been in the process of building a spec house on a 10 acre piece of property. It has not rained in days and there was no way to foresee this disaster. There was a road there...but not anymore! One concrete truck and four pump trucks all got stuck in the mud. John said if he wasn't there to see it, he wouldn't have believed it.

Cub Scouts

Corban earned his Wolf badge! He earned his first gold arrow, then 8 silver ones. For each of those arrow points, he had to pass off 10 things. Thats 90 extra things not including the requirements for his Wolf. He also earned his snowboarding, soccer, flag football, rollerblading, bicycle, fishing, gymnastics and communication pins. Each of those required a slew of things to pass off too. He has been a busy boy! We are proud of him. I feel pretty proud of myself too, because as any of you who have a kid in scouts know, we are really the ones who earn it. I mean we have to put up with the "But I don't wannas", and the "Do I have tos" And thats just what we hear from our husbands! I can't repeat what Corban had to say about it.

Bogus Basin

So, last Friday the kids had school off due to teacher in-service. We decided to go to Bogus for some skiing/snowboarding. Up by the condos, they had these really cool snow tunnels that I'm sure some kids made. They were like gopher holes - they had multiple inlets and outlets, and they all connected together. So, here we are up for a great day of skiing and all they want to do is play in the snow tunnels. I guess that proves the point of kids getting more enjoyment out of playing with a box than the expensive store bought toy.

I have been so proud of the boys though. They are moving into the next "phase" of skiing/snowboarding. They are venturing through the trees in search of jumps. I wish you could have seen them! When Corban landed the first one - I swear for like five minutes he was yelling "Yeah!, Wahoo!, Awesome!" Shortly behind him was Jaron going off the same jump! No fear. Meanwhile, I was trying to find an alternate route.

Party like a Rockstar

Jordan went to a concert fit for a two year old. It had all her favorite rockstars. She was up in the stands singing and dancing. I have never seen her get so excited.

Inflation

Jaron has finally lost his front tooth. This makes his third tooth gone. But man has inflation gone up! I remember when we got a cool 50 cent piece. Now kids get stickers, toys, candy and money. The tooth fairy gave Jaron two bucks. What is up with that? Now we have to mortgage our house with all the teeth they are losing, times three! So now that Corban has been getting molars, does that mean he has to start paying us? I mean fairs fair.

Thanks Angie!

So, my sister-in-law Angie, is amazing with her blog. She is actually the first person I knew to even have a blog. Never in a million years did I think I would ever have one - but here we are. A big "Thanks" to Angie for this cute header of my kids. She created that for us - something I never could have done. Clearly, it takes way too much talent. I even had to watch a "how to" video just to be able to put it on my blog!

Boise State University Engineering

BSU had an Engineering Day for kids. They had fun building things with Legos, riding the "hoover craft", using the remote control vehicles, and learning about so many things like how air moves over the wings of an airplane and what is in the middle of a baseball. Do you know? I thought I did - but didn't. It's cork.

Snow Day!

The schools had declared a snow day! I declared it play day! I cancelled my kickboxing class and scouts, due to weather. But we managed to get to Camelsback mountain with some friends for some sledding. Even though we had brought our super cool sleds and tubes - the black garbage bags ruled the mountain! Sledding is some tough work. It is quite the hike up those steep mountains, but worth the 10 second ride down.
