We went to my Dad and Renee's for the 24th celebration in Park Valley. For all of you who don't know where that is...join the rest of America. It's a little town in the North West part of Utah. My dad and Renee are retired there and everyone else are Ranchers. But they know how to have fun and put up a mean BBQ. They had races, sheep riding, and the chicken chase. Corban was too old to do the sheep riding and not experienced enough to do the cow riding. Jaron was NOT going to ride, because last year, the sheep stepped on him. So that leaves the chicken chase. Mind you, if you catch the chicken, you take the chicken. This is our conversation:
Mom: "Okay boys, you can do the chicken chase and dang it, do your best. You can catch the chicken but then you have to immediatley let it go again because we can't take the chicken home."
Boys: "Okay Mom"
So the chicken chase goes on and they almost catch it - but Whew! secretly glad they didn't. So Jaron is very interested in this chicken that was caught and is looking at the boy holding in upside down by his feet. The boy asks Jaron if he wants to hold it. Jaron did and the boy walked away. The boys mother must have had a similar conversation with him like the one above. Jaron now has a chicken and doesn't know what to do with it, so he gives it to Corban. Now Corban has a chicken and I have to give it to someone. Finally, after many many people (who were laughing at the city folk with a chicken) I got a lady to take it, who at first said "We already have chickens" I said "What's one more? - I can't have a chicken." She took it. Really - can you imagine what I would do with a chicken?

They also had a dance and the kids got out there and boogied with the best of them. Check out the girl factor on Jaron. His dad would say "Just like your old man" But would we really belive that? Ha, Ha - Honey, we know your a babe. Corban, Jaron and Jordan also love to ride the 4-wheelers. Thanks Dad and Renee for the great weekend!
